After falling 33-39 to Flashlights of Tema New Town, Community 12 Coach Emmanuel Partey has listed rebounding as the area his side needs to improve on as it attempts to win third place in the Tema Community Basketball League.
He made the statement in the aftermath of Game One’s loss in the series when Basketballghana.com contacted him for an interview before Nungua Coldstore beat Ashaiman Lions 49-38 in the league finals series, later in the day.
Citing a myriad of reasons for the defeat including “inconsistent” calls from referees, Partey was particularly concerned about the lack of second scoring opportunities through rebounds from his side. He said:
“A lot of factors; firstly the officiating for this game isn’t consistent…we have to work on our rebounding because that has been a problem during the whole tournament for us. Our rebounding has been very very poor. We cannot shoot threes hoping to score without catching it and the other team’s are doing it very very well”.
Despite holding a seven point lead (30-23) at the end of the third quarter, Community 12 crumbled in the final part of the game Flashlights rallied to register the win with a flurry of three point shots from Point Guard Kingsley Quist.
