Reformers of Prisons Point Guard Andrews Ayienab has registered his displeasure about officiating in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I which came to an over the weekend at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.
The fleet footed Guard made the statement when Basketballghana.com contacted him in the aftermath of his side’s 60-67 loss to Fire Service to finish fourth in the just ended league.
“We had hard luck on our side. A lot of turnovers, a lot of mistakes we made and that gave the opposing team the chance to win…I was half fit for the match so that attributed to our loss but it’s the game of basketball. But the problem I have is the officiating. I think they have to work on it” he said.
He cited several instances where he believed the official erred including a call on him for fouling Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan during Reformers semifinal loss to Braves of Customs who went on to beat Tema Youth 67-52 to lift the league title.
Braves will represent Ghana at the FIBA Zone Three Africa Champiosnhip in Togo, Lome on October 21.
The former Catholic University College-Ghana standout was however at peace with his side’s final position despite losing twice to Fire in the season.
