Braves of Customs Coach Lawal Brimah has congratulated his lads for winning the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I title in an interview with Basketballghana.com after beating Tema Youth 67-52 to lift the trophy.
In a game which the defending champions dominated for long stretches highlighted by a 23-6 lead in the first quarter, Braves beat its closest rival with little fuss for the second straight season finale; Braves beat Tema 75-65 in the regular season.
“I feel great and am happy for the performance of my boys because in the previous matches we didn’t pull ourselves up but I don’t know if its because of the team that we were playing but because its Tema Youth, they were able to lift themselves” he said.
The two time Ghana Basketball Awards Coach of the Year winner will lead his side to represent Ghana at the FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship in Lome, Togo which tips off on October 21 after going unbeaten through the season.
Ghana’s other representative Tema Youth will however miss out on the tournament due to financial constraints.
Braves successfully defended its league title by winning all games in the regular season before beating Teshie Rangers and Reformers of Prisons in the postseason.
