Fire Service have done a double on Accra Basketball League outfit Reformers of Prisons after the former delivered a 67-60 win on the final day of the Men’s Division I League 2016 season at the Lebanon House Court.
Both sides met during the regular season where Fire piped Reformers 63-62.
Missing big man Aziz Mohammed hurt the side’s chances of winning the tie according to Point Guard Andrews Ayienab and after leading much of the game, Prisons couldn’t stop the downward trek as Fire stormed out onto the court in the second half exploiting the smaller Reformers side.
With Mohammed sidelined by injury, Fire Service Center Josph Boye had a field day in the paint gobbling up rebound before going on to deliver the game’s highlight by finishing off an alley oop. A second loss to Fire sees Reformers finish the season in fourth place.
Braves of Customs took on Tema Youth in the final game of the round and beat Tema 67-52 to lift the trophy. Braves emerged champions last season by beating Tema in what later turns out to be repeat of happenings in last season’s play.
Braves female side was honored on the night after topping the women’s division.
