The loss of two starters in the third quarter has been fingered by Reformers Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw as the major reason for Reformers of Prisons 55-75 loss to Braves of Customs in the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I semifinal playoff game at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.

The standout Shooting Guard who had a splendid individual battle against Braves sharp shooter and 2013 Most Valuable Player of the Year Baniba Dodzie, was adamant the loss Point Guard Andrews Ayienab and Center Aziz Mohammed damaged their quest to topple the defending league champions.

“I think we did our best…our big man Aziz and our Point Guard also went out so it made things difficult for us. We are going to work very hard to take the third place” he said in an interview with Basketballghana.com after the game.

On Dodzie, he said, “He is a very good Shooting Guard that I’ve looked up to but I think now its time for me to take over.”

Matters between both sides remained close midway through the game but after Mohammed and Ayienab fouled out, a half time three point deficit turned into a seven point deficit (48-55) at the end of the third quarter and ended up with Reformers falling further behind in the final quarter.

Baniba and Braves are expected in Togo’s capital, Lome for the FIBA Africa Zone Three Championship set to begin on October 21.
