Braves of Customs and Tema Youth have scored wins over Reformers of Prisons and Fire Service respectively in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I semifinal playoff games at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.
The duo will battle for the league title on Saturday October 15 at the same venue as Fire Service and Reformers do same for the third spot.
Defending champions Braves dominated the final quarter of the game to coast to a 75-55 win over a plucky Reformers side that battled hard in the earlier quarters to stay within touching distance of the Customs side.
The highly anticipated matchup between Guards Elvis Pobi-Siaw of Prisons and Baniba Dodzie lived up to expectation with both men serving fans gathered at the venue, a scoring delicacy of jumpers, layups and three point shots.
However, it was Braves bigger lineup that took advantage of the smaller and short handed Reformers side without Point Guard Andrews Ayienab and Center Aziz Mohammed who fouled out in the third quarter.
Tema Youth came out on top of a roller coaster game to earn a 64-59 win over Fire Service. Despite the wonderful second quarter showing from Fire Shooting Guard Jibril Musah whose three conversions beyond the arc tied the game at 30 before Tema Point Guard Nana Owusu Afriyie gave his a 32-30 first half lead from the free throw line.
Three quick turnovers in the final quarter cost Fire Service the game as Tema benefited from the giveaways to earn a 52-46 lead before going on to seal the win.
