The University of Ghana (UG) Basketball Camp is heading to a close later this week with the near fortnight event set to end.
UG’s camp for young players and individuals interested in the sport commenced on August 13 and is set to end on Friday, August 24 at the institution’s Central Court.
Coaches of Ghana’s premier university’s Male basketball side Eric Ankamah and Dr. Baba Samori, are headlining the camp which aims to develop skills in fundamental aspects of the sport to participants.
Members of UG’s all conquering Male side have been helping campers through sessions over the past week; UG has dominated the Ghanaian scene over the past three years.
The team’s dominance has stretched beyond Ghana and touched the African stage where it has clinched gold at the All Africa University Games.
UG’s Camp forms part of initiatives to develop the sport’s popularity and technical aspect in Ghana which has enormous talent but continues being back by a lack of support from a largely football-first state.
