The final four stage of the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I playoffs is set to take place at 17:00 GMT later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra as Braves of Customs go up against Reformers of Prisons and Tema Youth takes on Fire Service.
In a strange twist of events, the round of games will take place on Thursday for the second time this season. Prior to today, all games were honored in the league on Fridays and Wednesdays.
However, the start of the postseason has had games being played on Thursday with first round matchups between Tudu Magic and Reformers and Ghana Navy and Fire Service being held on the day.
One concern that has been expressed by a section of fans and one team official who does not want his identity revealed is that having games on Thursdays makes it hard for the venue to be filled. The Lebanon Court had several pockets of spaces in the stands during the league’s first go around on the said day.
With the exception of Reformers who placed sixth in the standings, the rest of the field featured in the top four places in the regular season with Braves leading the way and Tema and Fire following accordingly.
