In the latest twist to what has already been a strange and elongated Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I season, classification games to determine the final positions of teams in the league will be based on first round results.
Basketballghana.com can confirm the Ghana Navy-DC Dynamics game and Teshie Rangers v loser of the Dynamics-Navy game will not be played. Tudu Magic’s game against winner of the aforementioned pairing has also been called off.
As such the final league standings for the postseason will be determined by point differentials on games involving the teams in the first round of the postseason. The decision to cancel the games according to an unnamed team official was to save “resources” and the results of the games will have no effect on proceedings moving forward.
A combination of referees failure to honor games and rain are the main causes of the cancellations with the short handed officials unable to officiate the Ghana Navy-Fire Service game on Day two of the first round and rain rendering the court unplayable in the Dynamics-Navy matchup.
Despite the changes, the final four teams will be in action on Thursday October 13 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu with Braves of Customs taking on Reformers of Prisons and Fire Service taking on Tema Youth.
