Reformers of Prisons have drawn Braves of Customs in the semifinals of the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I playoffs which promise to be an exciting matchup. With both sides recording impressive wins over Tudu Magic and Teshie Rangers respectively in the first round of games at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Braves were the first to taste success in the playoffs after beating eight seeded Rangers in the opening game 66-41. The top seeded side who went into the playoffs on the back off an unbeaten run in the regular season after nine games, was expected to repeat the 100-36 shellacking it delivered to Teshie.
However, Rangers played well to stay in the game for long stretches surprising fans at the venue who were expecting an absolute mauling by the defending champions. Braves are expected to be in Lome, Togo later in the month to compete at the FIBA Zone Three Africa Club Championship.
For Reformers, beating home side Tudu Magic 58-52 represented a huge statement in its own right as Magic has been a formidable force at their home ground and looked to be in the best shape heading into the postseason after securing third seed.
The sixth seeded Reformers resolute stance in a largely scrappy, physical game that came alive in the latter quarters.
