Another year, another season but the woes of Desert Rabbits just wouldn’t go away. After posting a losing record last year, the Global Sporting Projects (GSP) Basketball League outfit lost 28-34 to Sunyani Polytechnic in the second week of the 2016 season.
The game which took place at the Eusbett Hotel after a last minute engagement at the aforementioned Polytechnic’s basketball court forced handlers to move the fixture and it turned out to be a favorable result for Sunyani.
Playing at the league’s new venue, Sunyani Polytechnic had enough points on the board to see out the tie against the Rabbits despite being away from the comforts of their home court. Both sides struggled to find their rhythm on the offensive end as they warmed themselves to the new facility.
Catholic University College, Ghana were also big winners in Week 2 as the side beat University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) 32-24 in a crunch match up.
Defending champions Suncity Braves earned a 20-18 win over West Sides before LIR lost 25-43 to Barracks Scorpions.
Following a lengthy break after the opening week on April 30th and another week off last weekend due to teams’ failure to register players, management was delighted with proceedings.
