Fire Service and Tudu Magic have emerged victors on the second day of postseason first round games in the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I after scoring wins in their respective games against Ghana Navy and Teshie Rangers.
Navy ended up losing the highly engaging and entertaining matchup 57-59 which had to be played a day after the original set date failed to have the teams in action as the game was called off. The cagey affair had the score remain very close with lead margins of two and one dominating the game.
A 25-24 Fire lead with two minutes and 31 seconds left to play in the second quarter had Navy go off on a scoring run that gave the side a 31-30 lead at half time. However, the third quarter turned out to be the Gilbert Wood show as the mercurial Fire Guard scored three baskets beyond the arc.
Navy found a way to keep themselves in the game with makes from David Asingar and Brew Smith before Daniel Amartey drilled in two three pointers of his own that sealed the win for Fire despite the frantic effort of Joe Ayieattah to beat the buzzer with half court shot..
The follow up game between Tudu Magic and Teshie Rangers which the latter won 56-42, failed to live up to the level of the previous game. Fans gathered at the court tried hard to keep themselves engaged in a lackluster performance from both sides.
Rangers Center Emmanuel Ocquaye’s three point barrage in the final quarter was perhaps the most eye catching display on the night.
