Ghana Navy Coach Alexander Tindani has stated his side’s playoff game against Fire Service scheduled to take place at the Lebanon House Court has been postponed due to a “Gross Match” relating to the absence of referees to call the game.
The 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I postseason first round games Day Two had Reformers of Prisons beat home side Tudu Magic 58-53 in a very physical contest that had both teams go at each other with little to separate the two.
However, the second and final game of the day, had to be called off due to the absence of Fire Service affiliated referees who had to stay away from the tie and the replacement were deemed unfit to handle a game of such magnitude hence a “Gross Match”.
The decision to cancel the game didn’t go down well with the veteran Coach whose side missed out on game action for three straight weeks in order for the league to see out postponed games that had accumulated at a point in the season.
The game has since been scheduled to be honored at the same venue at 17:00 GMT before Magic takes on Teshie Rangers.
