Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I regular season leaders Braves of Customs and Tema Youth will open the 2016 postseason when both teams engage in matchups later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.
First seed Braves will play eight seed Teshie Rangers in the first of two games scheduled for the round at 17:00 GMT in a game the defending champions and multiple league winners is expected to win easily. In the regular season, Braves beat Rangers 100-36 serving a rude baptism of fire to the league debutants at the Prisons Court in Cantonments.
However, that has not deterred Rangers Coach Wisdom Etsorgali from talking tough ahead of the tie by stating his side is “unperturbed” and “ready to compete”.
Tema Youth will play DC Dynamics in the second game in what is widely considered a more competitive matchup than the Braves game. Last season’s runner up Tema, will need to win and progress in the competition as the side prepares for the FIBA Zone 3 Africa Club Championship tournament slated to take place between October 21 and October 30 in Lome, Togo.
Dynamics versatile roster will be put to the test against the much fancied and experienced Tema side.
Reformers of Prisons game against Tudu Magic and Ghana Navy’ s tie against Fire Service will be played on October 8.
