The Tema Community Basketball League will on Sunday October 9 have semifinal games in the playoffs take place at the Community 4 Basketball Court with Ashaiman Lions taking on Flashlights of Tema New Town and Community 12 take on Nungua Coldstore.
Ahead of the hugely anticipated pair of games, management has unveiled the ultimate trophy winner of the maiden edition of the league will have for keeps. Impressively minted gold , silver and bronze medals are set to be handed out to winners of the respective positions on the final day of competition.
Players will receive the medals which feature imprints of a basketball and hoop for their efforts among the elite of the seven team league.
Ashaiman Lions and Nungua Coldstore bested the opposition in Group B of the recently concluded regular season to make the playoffs with Community 12 and Flashlights doing same in Group A.
With both sides featuring on either side of the draw, there is a strong chance a repeat of the Basketball Battle final between Nungua and Ashaiman to happen. In the two day tournament organized as a curtain raiser event to the postseason, Nungua beat Ashaiman 47-37 to lift the trophy leading to a revenge promise from Lions Ernest Otu Laryea.
