Later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, the 2016 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I postseason will tip off with Braves of Customs taking on Teshie Rangers at 17:00 GMT before Tema Youth takes on DC Dynamics.
Both games will mark Rangers and Dynamics respective debuts in the playoffs after securing qualification from Division II and subsequently the postseason this year. The pair face daunting challenges against the top rated teams in the league after Braves secured first place by winning all nine games with Tema following closely with seven won games.
Dynamics fared better in the season after registering four wins; two better than what Rangers recorded the entire season. Heading into the tie, Dynamics look likely to have a slow start following a long layoff whereas Rangers played and lost 36-100 against Braves a fortnight ago in a rescheduled game after administrative issues forced the tie to be called off.
Rangers are almost down and out as they come up against the defending champs but Dynamics look good to cause an upset following the team’s spirited loss to Tema Youth in the regular season and reports reaching Basketballghana.com, which indicate some Youth players, are likely to skip the tie due to scheduling inconveniences.
The postseason first round continues on Thursday October 6 at the same venue with Reformers playing home side Tudu Magic and Ghana Navy playing Fire Service.
