Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League’s recommencement has failed to take place as a result of multiple team failures to register players for the season in time.
The league was scheduled to continue over the weekend following a lengthy break after the opening round earlier this year but did not materialize at the Eusbett Hotel in Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani.
According to GSP Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo, several teams had not registered eligible players to compete in the league which forced organizers to postpone the second round of games to Saturday, October 8 at the same venue.
The brand new Eusbett Hotel basketball court has been added to the list of venues for the remainder of the season as part of new features institutionalized by the league board. An All-Star event featuring teams from other parts of Ghana was played here with Kumasi All-Stars from the Ashanti Region winning the event.
Sunyani Polytechnic and University of Energy and Natural Resources Basketball Courts will host league games in the course of the season.
Information by Basketballghana.com indicates that the schedule will remain same as defending champions Suncity Braves take on West Siders in the opening game and LIR take on Barracks Scorpions.
The final games of the round will have Sunyani Polytechnic take on Desert Rabbits before University of Energy and Natural Resources play against Catholic University College, Ghana.
