Nungua Coldstore has won the Basketball Battle Tournament in Tema after beating Ashaiman Lions 47-37 in the final game at the Community 4 Basketball Court.
The two day tournament which featured all seven teams that competed in the just ended Tema Community Basketball League regular season and Ghana Police Male Team, had Nungua win the event without suffering a loss in five games played.
Nungua beat out Ashaiman in the finals of the tournament which was organized to fine tune teams for the postseason in the coming weeks, had Nungua take advantage of the Lions misses from the field.
Prior to the final, Ashaiman fielded the deadliest three point shooting duo in Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Daniel Amartey but the shots didn’t fall for either man or the rest of the team.
Coldstore Forward Kofi Agyei who ended the tie with an emphatic dunk was named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
Home side Community 4 lost to Flashlights of Tema New Town 20-27 to miss out on a third place finish with the former faring better by making the final four roster after failing to do same in the regular season.
New Patriotic Party Candidate for the Tema Central Constituency Kofi Brako was present at the event and handed out trophies to winners. The incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency donated set of jerseys to three teams that competed in the event.
