National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament Candidate for the Klottey-Korle Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings has urged Ghanaians to be :Peace Ambassadors” as the nation heads into national and parliamentary elections later this year.
The aspiring Member of Parliament made the call in her speech on the final day of the Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament at the Lebanon House Court which she bankrolled as a measure to promote peace awareness in communities in the nation’s capital, Accra.
She said, “We must consider sports as something that we do. Sports doesn’t see boundaries. Sports doesn’t discriminate…No matter what, if we don’t have peace we cannot progress, let us be ambassadors of peace. Lets’ remember we are one people, one community and we only have one Ghana”.
Dignitaries including Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong and veteran basketball pundit Yaw Sakyi Afari were present at the event.
The maiden edition of the tournament began on September 26 and had seven teams drawn from communities like Teshie, Tema and Osu compete for top honors. Ridge beat home side Galaxy from Tudu 41-28 in the final game with Dr. Zanetor looking on to win the trophy.
