Asylum Down and Ridge will take on Galaxy from Tudu in the final game of the Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra later today.

The game which will be a repeat of the Group A tie between the sides that ended with Galaxy winning 47-34, will climax the maiden edition of the tournament that has been created to promote peace awareness in communities in Ghana’s capital Accra ahead of national and parliamentary elections slated for December this year.

Galaxy was the first to earn a ticket to the final after brushing aside Teshie Rangers to win 46-33 and maintain its unbeaten run in the tourney ahead of the showdown against the strongest opponent it faced in the preliminary round; Ridge.

They on the other hand qualified to the final by beating Junior Reformers from Osu 60-51 with the former taking its foot off the pedal in the closing stages which allowed the latter to reduce the deficit. With two minutes left to play, Ridge held a 56-43 lead on the back off top marksmanship from the likes of Sena, Joel Tham and Edwin Appiah.

Unlike previous games where they lived and died by the three point shot, Ridge varied its offense with a flurry of good ball movement around the perimeter and great cuts to the basket to unsettle what has up until the game, been the best defense in the tournament. Reformers will play Teshie Rangers in the third place match before the final game tips off.

Brainchild and sponsor of the competition, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings will grace the occasion with dignitaries including Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong and basketball pundit Yaw Sakyi Afari.
