The official curtain raiser of the Tema Community Basketball League playoffs will be staged today at the Community 4 Basketball Court with ten teams set to compete in “Basketball Battle”- a specially organized two day tournament- starting 9:00 am.
All seven teams that recently competed in the regular season will make another appearance alongside Ghana Police Male Basketball Team, Warriors and Gbevu Nation. The teams have been grouped into three pots where winners of Groups B and C will qualify to the semifinals with the winner and first runner up in Group A which houses four teams qualifying.
The Police team is expected to field a veteran side including Guards Emmanuel Dickson and Benjamin Debrah and Gbevu Nation and Warriors are hell bent on pulling a surprise in the competition which ends on Sunday October 2.
The competition will offer a preview of the playoffs as the likes of Ashaiman Lions, Flashlights of Tema Newtown, Community 12 and Nungua Coldstore will be in action a week after for a shot at winning the maiden league.
