Junior Reformers from Osu and Asylum Down and Ridge recorded impressive wins on Day 4 of the Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra and secure qualification to the next round.
Reformers outclassed Nima Novas to win 58-36 in the opening game of the round in sweltering conditions which stakeholders didn’t mind considering the opening days of the tournament was cut short by rain.
Reformers continued its ways in the tourney after producing a similar dominant performance to beat Teshie Rangers 56-42 in the prior game. That gives the side a perfect record heading to the semifinals as fellow Group B side DC Dynamics failed to honor the tournament at the last instance.
In the final game of the day, Ridge earned a hard fought 43-38 win over CYO from Adabraka to book a place in the final four of the competition. Despite carrying a slim 17-16 lead into the third quarter, Ridge’ superior execution beyond the arc finally put away a resilient CYO side.
Ridge will take on Reformers with Galaxy set to take on Teshie Rangers in the semi finals later today. The final and third place games will be played on Saturday, October 1.
The event, which aims at promoting peace in Ghana’s communities ahead of the national and parliamentary elections, is bankrolled by humanitarian and politician Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings.
