Organizers of the Tema Community Basketball League have put together a two day tournament that will have all seven teams that competed in the just ended regular season and Ghana Police Male Basketball Team battle for top honors at the Community Basketball Court at 9 am.
The tournament will be the official curtain raiser for the playoffs which are set to begin October 9 with qualified sides Nungua Coldstore, Ashaiman Lions, Flaslights from Tema NewTown and Community 12 aiming to win the maiden edition of the league.
Ghana Police’ addition means fans will get the chance to see star names like Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson compete as the side could not feature in league games due to administrative issues. Aside having the opportunity to earn heal some wounds after missing out on the playoffs, Communities 4, 2 and 5 will get the chance to show what they have in store for next season.
For playoff teams, the competition gives them the chance to fine tune their game before the October 9 tipoff date. Chief League organizer Frederick Yeboah has hailed the competition as an opportunity for fans to see their favorite teams particularly those that failed to make the postseason, compete one more time.
