The FIBA Zone Three African Club Championship is set to tipoff in October with representatives from several West African countries due to compete in the tournament. Ghana’s top leading sides Braves of Customs and Tema Youth are primed to represent the nation in Togo’s capital, Lome where the tournament will take place between October 21 and October 30.
Braves won the 2015 Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I title ahead of Tema Youth and both sides stand the chance to qualify to the main African Club Championship tournament with a shot at unseating reigning champions Petro Atletico.
Both teams occupy the top spots in the current season with Braves leading the standings and on the verge of sealing a regular season unbeaten run. The side will complete its matchup against Tudu Magic on Wednesday September 28 which got postponed in the final round of games due to heavy rains.
However, matters are less clearer in the women’s division as winners Braves of Customs are likely to miss out on playing in the competition due to financial reasons Basketballghana.com gathers.
Teams from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, Benin among others have tabled to compete.
