Ghana’s most celebrated high school basketball tournament Sprite Ball Championship will be a decade come January 2017 and as part of whipping up interest ahead of the milestone event, “Fast Break” will be debuting a mini series featuring former standout players of the competition.
The premium basketball television program which airs on Ghanaian channel TV3 on Sundays between 13:00- 14:00 GMT, has recently been nominated for the Sports Program of the Year in the television category at the Radio and Television Personality Awards due to take place on October 22.
Former Keta Senior High School Guard Joseph Allem Butias and Oda Senior High School Guard Afia Kobi Agyemang will be the first of many ex competitors in the competition who will be making appearances in subsequent weeks.
In an exclusive preview with Basketballghana.com, Butias and Agyemang went down memory lanes to share their experiences playing in a competition that has become a main stay in Ghana’s sports annals. Butias featured for Keta in 2009 and 2010 and Afia Agyemang played for Oda in the second edition in 2008.
Butias is in Ho Polytechnic and recently competed for the school at the Universities, polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship. Agyemang currently plays Accra Basketball League side Braves of Customs who were crowned champions last month.
