The Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I regular season ought to have been completed at the time of publication but a late tipoff in the opening game and heavy rain forced the final game of the regular season between Braves of Customs and Tudu Magic to be called off.
Fire Service edged Reformers of Prisons 63-62 in the opening game.
A new date to honour the game is yet to be named by the league board Basketballghana.com can confirm after reports emerged the tie could be settled on Sunday, September 25.
With few minutes played in the second half and Braves leading 22-20, a sweeping downpour passed through Ghana’s capital Accra affecting many parts of the city and it forced officials to call off the game as it has been the case for the past three consecutive match days.
Had the game concluded, the official standings and playoff fixtures would have been available but the cancellation means third placed Magic can secure second spot in the standings should it record a win with a 63 point difference or more over Braves.
Win or lose, Braves will end the season as leaders.
That looks very unlikely as Braves is yet to lose a game all season and are in great shape heading to the playoffs.
