Residential areas in Ghana’s capital city, Accra will be omnipresent at the Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament due to tip off on September 26 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
The program will run to October 1 and have eight teams representing the aforementioned neighbourhoods compete in the tournament that aims at promoting peace awareness ahead of Ghana’s national and parliamentary elections to be held in December this year.
DC Dynamics, Galaxy, Tema Youth and Teshie Rangers will represent Dansoman, Tudu, Tema and Teshie in one half of the pool. With Reformers, NOVAS, CYO and AD and R, representing Osu, Nima, Adabraka and Asylum Down and Ridge respectively in the other half.
Aside promoting awareness on the need to maintain peace before, during and after the elections, the tournament will serve as the right post season preparations for the huge Accra Basketball League contingent in the competition.
The league’s regular season is almost over and the playoffs are set to begin in October.
Peace Hoops 2016 Basketball Tournament is headlined by National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Korle-Klottey Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings who has a well chronicled history with humanitarian and philanthropic activities.
