Organizers of the maiden GSP All-Star Basketball Tournament has decided to move the innovative tourney from the Sunyani Polytechnic Basketball Court to the Eusbett Hotel Basketball Court with the move coming on the heels of the events’ September 24 tip off date.
The tournament will feature four teams drafted from several spots of Ghana with Sunyani All Stars- a collection of top performing players in the GSP Basketball League in the town- playing host to Techiman All Stars, Kumasi All Stars and Accra Basketball League outfit Tema Youth.
The event will be the curtain raiser to the new GSP Basketball League due to start on October 1 with defending champions Sun city Braves taking on University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in a highly anticipated matchup.
Playing against sides from other parts of the country will afford players in the GSP League the chance to get their feet wet whilst preparing for the new season’s commencement same for Tema Youth who would want to capitalize on the opportunity to play competitively before the Accra league playoffs begin.
Per GSP Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo, the tourney will help to raise the game’s profile in Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo regional capital. Mossay Pharmacy and Awosent Sports Wear are sponsoring the event with support from media partners Basketballghana.com, TV3, Metro TV, Citi FM, Storm FM, Ark FM and J Life FM.
