From September 26 to October 1, the 2016 Peace Hoops Basketball Tournament will take place at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra. The five day tourney has been put together to raise peace awareness as Ghana prepares for national and parliamentary elections in December.
The tournament will be played under the theme ,”Promoting Peace within our community, teams, players, and motherland Ghana during this election year”.
Eight teams have been penciled to feature in the event with DC Dynamics, Galaxy, Tema Youth and Teshie Rangers making up one half of the roster. CYO, Reformers, Asylum Down and Ridge and Novas Basketball Club will represent in the other half respectively.
National Democratic Congress Parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings is the major player in the organization of the noteworthy cause which has orienting Ghanaian youth on the importance of maintaining peace through basketball in the West African country as the main objective.
The venture is the latest in a line of humanitarian acts by the prospective Member of Parliament who was the face of massive relief efforts to help people affected by floods and fire disaster that devastated Ghana’s capital, Accra on June 3 last year.
Dr. Zanteor is the oldest daughter of former Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang.
