The Accra Basketball League witnessed another postponed game as rain halted play in the Men’s Division I when Fire Service played against Reformers of Prisons over the weekend at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.
With the game tied at 65 and two minutes and 30 seconds left to play, the playing surface became slippery and dangerous for players as the rain intensified. Reformers Guard Nii Ayi Mensah’s slip on a drive to the basket cued referees to call off the game.
Both teams will play the rescheduled fixture on Friday September 23 with Braves of Customs game against Tudu Magic set to take place after. Braves will take on Fire Service in another outstanding game on Wednesday September 21.
However, the highly entertaining game turned sour as players from both teams engaged in a heated conversation which ended in Reformers Center Aziz getting into a brawl with Fire Service Small Forward Farahat Tamimu.
The two were separated quickly but not before Mohammed sustained an injury to his face. The league is yet to issue a statement officially on the incident as reports gathered by Basketballghana.com indicate several witnesses have slammed the act.
