Following the postponement of Braves of Customs game against Teshie Rangers in the previous round of the Accra Basketball League played over the weekend at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, claims have emerged Braves is being sabotaged by referees.
This claim has since been backed by Rangers Coach Wisdom Etsorgali who has stated he believes the claim could be true. In an interview with Basketballghana.com, the young trainer said:
“The trigger says so because its only CEPS (Braves) games that this particular thing happens. I haven’t seen any game where the officials have just walked off the court whilst a game is about to start. This only happens during CEPS games it’s rather appalling but that is the league in which we find ourselves and its too bad. I think the officials and the organizers need to take a look at this”.
After Fire Service beat home side Tudu Magic 64-55 in the opening game, Rangers was set to play the defending champions who are yet to lose a game in six outings this season, but the game had to be called off due to referees’ refusal to officiate.
The postponement marked the second straight week a game involving Braves had to be called off after an earlier game in the season against Fire Service was called off in similar fashion.
