Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I outfit Braves of Customs Coach Lawal Brimah has hit hard at referees by stating their attitude is “very, very” bad.

The veteran trained made the statement in the aftermath of Braves inability to play a league tie against Teshie Rangers which was scheduled to take place at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra.

After calling the opening game of the round between Fire Service and Tudu Magic, which Fire won 64-55, the referees decided not to officiate the game.

“In fact it’s really affecting us because the attitude of the referees is very, very bad because if even your colleagues are not here and you have officiated the first game, at least you should be able to officiate the second game. We coaches, we come to training in the morning and we can stand for two, three hours and we are the same coaches who use the whistle to officiate our teams’s training” he said in an interview with Basketballghana.com.

Braves on the other hand, refused to allow substitute referees to officiate the game as it was not agreed on when both parties deliberated on the issue earlier in the season. The side’s game against Fire Service in the previous was also called off after referees abandoned the game. The Referees Association is yet to make astatement on the issue.
