Ghana’s National Sports Authority through its outlet in the Brong Ahafo Region has endorsed the GSP (Global Sports Projects) Basketball League which is in its second season after the debut season went down in 2015.
Basketballghana.com received an exclusive copy of the letter from the regional branch of the authority which states the fledgling league in Brong Ahafo’s capital, Sunyani is officially recognized as such.
Signed by Regional Director George Osafo Agyei, the letter states, “The Regional Secretariat of National Sports Authority-Brong Ahafo wishes to state that we do acknowledge (d) the above league”.
The endorsement comes as a boost to management as it will buttress their efforts in positioning the league to attract sponsors and compete with more established leagues in the country like the Accra Basketball League and Tema Community Basketball League according to GSP PRO Daniel Addo.
Games will tipoff in October with the opening game between West Siders and Barracks Scorpions taking place on October 1 and feature eight teams in all. Defending champions Suncity Braves will do battle with University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
The 2016 season is expected to run for 14 weeks and conclude on December 24.
