Shaquille O’Neal will be inducted to the Hall of Fame on Friday, and he’s picked four all-time greats to present him at the ceremony. In an interview with The Vertical’s Shams Charania, O’Neal revealed that Hall of Famers Bill Russell, Julius Erving, Alonzo Mourning and Isiah Thomas will do the honors in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Over the years, O’Neal has repeatedly said that Erving is his favorite player and Russell is in his top five. O’Neal and Mourning were taken back-to-back at the top of the 1992 NBA Draft, and they were later teammates with the Miami Heat. O’Neal works with Thomas at Turner Sports.
The enshrinement ceremony will be broadcast Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV. O’Neal’s induction will surely be memorable not just because of who is introducing him, but because you never know what he’s going to say when he has a microphone in front of him. Should be fun.
