Accra Security has secured first place at the 2016 Fetu Afahy3 Basketball Tournament at the brand new Cape-Coast Stadium with a 24-14 win over closest challengers Ghana Navy in the two day basketball extravaganza that was put together by After7 Basketball Club in association with Promasidor Ghana Limited.
Fielding a side that had members from Accra Basketball League outfits Braves of Customs and Fire Service, feature, Security service run rampant in the tourney by blitzing opponents with neat passing sequences and deadly shooting from several parts of the court to go unbeaten through three games.
Navy’s bolstered team which was a stark contrast from the one that played in the just ended Accra League as Air Force players including Annabel Dsane and Memuna Mumuni joined the team for the competition, proved no match for an Accra side that fielded reigning Female Most Valuable Player of the Year Matilda Gordon.
Despite the loss, Navy secured second spot on the podium by beating Galaxy 22-12 in a latter encounter as Reformers failed to honour their tie against Accra Security Service. Galaxy finished third and walked away with products from Promasidor; Reformers of Prisons Female Team run out winless in the competition.
