Ghana Police Male Basketball Team claimed victory in the “Game of Arrest” by beating Reformers of Prisons 39-33 right after Galaxy claimed its maiden win of the Fetu Afahy3 Basketball Tournament with a 25-14 win over Reformers of Prisons.
The tournament which is being organized by After7 Basketball Club who double as participants in association with Promasidor Ghana Limited-producers of leading dairy product Cowbell, is in the final phase.
In a feisty and confrontational game, Police battled hard to stay in the competition by winning the tough duel as another loss would have condemned the side to two losses in the tourney and out of contending for the title.
But the side was extra motivated in this matchup and got things going on early holding a sizable 13 point lead midway through the final quarter of the game but a flurry of points from Reformers ensured they reduced the deficit to six points.
It was double misery for Reformers as the ladies team lost out 14-25 to Galaxy in a battle between two winless sides. Galaxy proved the better side of the two however with contributions from all members of the roster.
The loss means Reformers is out of the title race.
