The Tema Community Basketball League witnessed another spell of late game heroics as Nungua Coldstore’s Kwame Boamah Djan converted a free throw to give seal a sensational 54-53 win over Community 4.
The enthralling game was preceded by Community 5’s 32 -29 win over Community 12 in an equally exciting game that drew hoards of fans to the Chinese Basketball Court.
Home side Community 4 sent their fans into a frenzy as the side got back into contention in the final quarter after trailing Nungua Coldstore through three quarters including 12-23 and 33-44 deficits in the first and third quarters respectively.
Despite starting Point Guard Kent Fosu missing the crunch game with an ankle injury, Community 4 got itself back in the game on the back of strong shooting from the free throw line and drives to the paint. However, a late turnover had Kwame Boamah go to the free throw line after getting fouled just before the buzzer which he converted.
Also needing a three point shot to tie the score and send the game into overtime, Community 12 put Community 5 under immense pressure but failed to register the go ahead basket to the disappointment of their fans.
League organizer Frederick Yeboah and some member of Ashaiman Lions watched on the sidelines: Lions will be in action in the upcoming round.
