The Tema Community Basketball League kicks into another gear as an exciting round of games are set to entertain fans at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court later today.
Community 12 will take on International Central Gospel Church (I.C.G.C.) Community 5 branch in the first matchup at 14:30 GMT and home side Community 4 plays Nungua Cold Store at 16:00 GMT.
The seven team league has been divvied into two groups with Community 5 I.C.G.C., Flashlights of Tema Newtown and Community 12 occupying Group A. Nungua Coldstore, Ashaiman Lions, Community 4 and Community 2 make up Group B.
League organizer Frederick Kofi Yeboah who goes by the moniker Osofo meaning Pastor, was impressed about the huge turnout at games and the level of commitment and talent from competing teams. The former University of Education-Winneba Small Forward believes developing and bringing basketball closer to fans, was the main reason behind the league’s creation.
Notable players featuring in the league include Elvis Pobi-Siaw of Ashaiman Lions and Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zonal Most Valuable Player Kent Fosu.
