Fire Service Accra Basketball Men’s Division I game against Braves of Customs has been called off for the second consecutive time. The game which was scheduled to take place on Friday August 26 at the Lebanon House Court, was postponed to a yet to be named date after miscommunication between league officials and referees ended up with the latter group abandoning the game.
Originally postponed due to incessant rains that hit most parts of Ghana in June, the rescheduled game was the standout tie in the round of games that had Navy beat Holy Family 53-47 and Tudu Magic beat Teshie Rangers 60-46.
Per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com the game was the first of the round set to be played at 15:00 GMT but Braves failed to show up leading game officials to officiate the next game on the schedule; Navy- Holy Family which wasn’t the arrangement.
The mix up ended up forcing officials set to officiate the final game of the round, (Magic-Rangers) before the Braves- Fire game was ready to be played which referees who had handled the earlier game were too tired to do. Officials of the Navy-Holy Family game were not ready to officiate because they weren’t contracted to do so for the round.
Fire Service Coach Ralph Ahadzi expressed his disappointment over the development when contacted.
