The latest round of games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) had fireworks in all three games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu as Reformers beat Air Force 62-52, Navy piping Fire Service 58-56 and home side Tudu Magic deliver a stunning shooting orchestra to top DC Dynamics 78-55.
Reformers fifth win of the season was a remarkable stint as the Prisons side rallied from a 7-28 deficit in the first quarter and overcame an early injury blow to starting Point Guard Andrew Ayienab to beat Air Force in the opening game of the round.
Shooting Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw delivered with seven three point shots to keep his side in the game as Mohammed Yakubu and Nii Ayi Mensah banked key jumpers to the frustration of Air Force.
Navy could have spared Coach Alexander Tindani loads of stress had they converted multiple opportunities from the free throw line and send the game into overtime. Navy held an eight point lead at the end of the first quarter and extended it to 10 (30-20) at the end of the first half with David Asingar and Eric Adoko dominating.
However, Emmanuel Amartey’s conversion from three point range, Philip Armalo’s nerves of steel from the charity stripe and Joseph Boye’s hustle on defense ensured Fire ended the game tied on 46 prior to losing out late in the game to drop a third straight game.
DC Dynamics had a hot start in the final game of the night as Lantei Blankson Mills and Sena Asante drained multiple three point shots apiece. Buoyed on by its vociferous fans, Magic turned the tide and unleashed a three point barrage of their own to easily handle a Dynamics side that failed to match Magic’s intensity particularly on the boards.
