Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri has hinted on a possible extension with the NBA franchise by stating he is “positive” about the negotiations on the matter.
In an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com’s Yaw Adjei-Mintah during a two day trip to Ghana for the second edition of his award winning Giants of Africa program in the West African nation, the Nigerian native sounded optimistic about his chances of staying in Toronto.
“We will keep working on it and we will see what come out but I love Toronto and it’s a place that has treated me well, I love our team, I love our ownership, I love our fans. It’s a beautiful place but with these things (contract talks) we will see how they go but I am very positive about it” he said.
Masai’s brainchild program Giants of Africa was honored with the African Development Award at the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards which took place at the Best Western Premier Hotel on August 12. Director of Operations and Business Development Advisor Godwin Owinje and Kweku Essien were on hand to receive the Award.
Since taking over the Raptors, Ujiri has steered the Raptors to three consecutive playoff appearances including a maiden Eastern Conference Final appearance last season and recently inked franchise cornerstone DeMar DeRozan to a five year $139 million contract.
Tema west academy was not even invited to ds august programme anyway good job
I think giants of Africa actually has brought certain favouritism in basketball because no one is told about such camps
