2016 Ghana Basketball Awards Female Most Valuable Player (MVP) Matilda Gordon has expressed confidence her win in the prestigious event which took place at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra, will inspire more female individuals to pick up the sport and train harder.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com after winning the Tertiary Female MVP Award aside her aforementioned triumph, she noted how her wins can affect people’s lives positively. She said, “I think it will encourage them (women) to work out more and train hard”.

“From the onset I know I am good and the teams I have gotten myself into they are very supportive so I think it was also good.”

 

Gordon topped Carlyn Adjei, Selina Quaye and Braves of Customs teammate Berlinda Tawiah in the overall Female MVP category and did same in the Tertiary category, beating Yayra Kluiboto of University of Cape-Coast and Osseni Mahmoudath of Valley View University to the prize.

The Accra Polytechnic and Braves of Customs Forward walked away with plaques and undisclosed amounts of cash as rewards for her win on the night. Gordon, formerly of Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion, was voted 2013 High School Female MVP at the 2013 Awards shared the podium with Maxwell Mod of University of Ghana, who won Tertiary Male MVP.
