The maiden edition of the 2016 High School and College Draft will be held at the University of Ghana between August 22 and August 27 due to logistical challenges according to Chief Executive Officer of organizers Rite Sports Limited, Yaw Sakyi Afari.
The Draft was set to take place between August 15 and August 20 but the change was deemed necessary by Rite Sports per investigations by Basketballghana.com.
The new dates will enable the best measures be put in place to ensure a successful program for the innovative scheme that gives educational scholarship opportunities to young talented athletes in Ghana.
Top ranked High Schools in the country including 2016 Team of the Year St. Augustine’s College, Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion and Mfantsipim School have signed up.
All Africa University Games Champions University of Ghana, Marshalls University College, Radford University College and University of Cape-Coast have keyed in their participation for the program.
Prospective participants will be taken through several drills by coaches in designated days before teaming up to compete in scrimmages before several scouts where the best of the crop will be given scholarships to study in prestigious high schools and tertiary institutions in Ghana.
