Air Force maintained its position in the Accra Basketball League Women’s Division Standings by beating Galaxy 46-42 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments.
The game was the sole fixture on the schedule as the season rounds up and was honored before the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards take place at the best Western Premier Hotel on Friday, August 12.
Air Force female side has been consistently good in the league this season as they have produced impressive wins with the season coming to a close. Its’ trio of Annabel Dsane, Memuna Mumuni and Grace Yinamyah again came to the fore with dynamic moves that held Galaxy at bay in crunch time.
Galaxy’s top rated players Selina Quaye and Naa Shika Moffat did come through with moments of brilliance but their efforts were not enough as Air Force run away with the crucial win. Quaye will be in attendance at the prestigious awards as she has been nominated for Most Valuable Female Player of the Year.
Dsane and Mumuni missed out on the remaining spots in the final nominee shortlist to Carlyn Adjei of Fire Service and Matilda Gordon of defending champions and division leaders Braves of Customs. However, their efforts has culminated in earning the side seven wins from nine games.
