Games in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I are likely to be postponed due to the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards scheduled to take place on Friday August 12 at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra.
The round is scheduled to have three games as Air Force plays DC Dynamics at 17:00 GMT, Braves of Customs take on Teshie Rangers and Reformers of Prisons plays Fire Service.
However, the awards which are set to start at 18: 00 GMT, will prevent nominees including players and referees to make an appearance at the awards should the games go on as planned.
Braves trio Hashim Brimah, Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan and Suleman Abubakar will have to choose playing over making an appearance at the event or otherwise should the games proceed. Other nominees likely to be affected include Referees Samuel Badu, Gasu Quarmyne and Eric Ankamah and Braves Coach Lawal Brimah.
The Basketball Awards third edition will be graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries like Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri, NBA Vice President and managing director for Africa Amadou Fall.
Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye and Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong are set to make appearances at the event.
