Tema Youth and Adenta Leopards were big winners on a chilly day in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division II which took place at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu as both side recorded wins over CYO and Junior Reformers of Prisons respectively.
Adenta whitewashed Reformers by beating them 75-50 and Tema piped CYO 58-56 in enthralling games. Leopards win was not surprising considering the side is yet to lose a game this season and Reformers had lost two consecutive games heading into the matchup.
Leopards tool the game to their opponents as Thomas Amedeku, Muhaimin Guba, Charles Anlo, Godwin Tetteh and Frank Amoah took turns to pepper Reformers baskets with multiple three point shots. The easy win ensures Leopards maintain its lead in the standings.
The win was earned with a standout performance from the team despite the absence of Maxwell Mod and Emmanuel Wolff.
Missing combo Guard Ashietey Ollenu and other key members proved to be a herculean task for Reformers to surmount.
There wasn’t much to choose in a cagey first half between Tema and CYO except a flurry of three point shots fromHadi Osumanu. However, things pick at least on the offensive end as Kent Fosu buried a three only for Osumanu to put CYO up 33-31 off a fast break layup.
Fosu made several plays down the stretch before exiting the game as CYO missed key free throw to lose narrowly.
