Despite an abundance of top notch basketball in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division II games at the Lebanon House Court, there was room for controversy to come to the fore.
The latest round of games had division leaders Adenta Leopards beat Junior Reformers of Prisons 75-50 and Tema Youth beat CYO 58-56.
In Tema’s win over CYO, starting Point Guard Kent Fosu got ejected after receiving a double technical for having some choice words for an official after what he deemed as a no call play.
Tema’s floor general had converted two free throws in the closing stages of the final quarter to give Tema a 48-43 lead.
His absence affected the team and almost cost the side a win as CYO closed the deficit to two points but failed to convert some crucial free throws to leave Tema off the hook.
Adenta Leopards and Junior Reformers of Prisons got entangled many times in a keenly contested game that had Leopards Coach Meme Falconer ejected after directing a verbal tirade towards the game officials.
The 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards Coach of the Year nominee was slapped with a double technical leading to the ejection.
Officiating has come under serious scrutiny this past weekend as several teams including Fire Service and Navy Male teams have complained about some dodgy calls by referees .
