DC Dynamics suffered 49-58 loss to Tema Youth at the Lebanon House Court in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I preceding a shock 56-53 win for Holy Family over Air Force.
Dynamics went into the matchup on the back off a two game winning run which had the Dansoman-based side record impressive wins over Navy and Fire Service. However, against last season’s runner up Tema Youth the run came to an end.
Tema stumbled out in the opening half as Dennis Boateng scored on a drive before backup Point Guard Lankai Blankson set up Emmanuel Mensah for Dynamics. Fortunes of the two sides turned in the second quarter as Dynamics barely mustered anything positive on offense prior to David Maja’s three point shot.
Youth Guard Marco Akibu converted a fast break layup and McMartey Lawer scored on a turnaround jumper to give Tema a 34-32 lead heading into the final quarter before sealing the win with a dunk by Lawer after collecting a long pass from Josiah Karikari.
Holy Family’s miserable season lightened a bit with a 56-53 win over Air Force. A strong rally in the second quarter was the catalyst for a well deserved win over a side that is yet to play anything close to the early season self.
Bright Agebu tied the score at 33 and Eric Afful converted multiple three point shots. Franklin Arhin and Raphael Buchag also came through with a couple of timely buckets before captain James Pappoe wrapped things up in the closing stages.
