Following the announcement of the first ever High School and Colleges Draft, several High School and Tertiary institutions have committed to the program which will take place between August 15 and August 19 at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
Reports gathered by Ghana’s leading basketball hub Basketballghana.com, point to institutions such as Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion, St. Augustine’s College, Ghana Secondary Technical School and Mfantsipim School confirming their participation in the upcoming event at the high school level.
University of Cape-Coast, Radford University College, Marshalls University College, Accra Polytechnic and University of Ghana have penned down their names to participate in the near week long program.
President of Radford University Dr. Paul Effah was ecstatic with the initiative and encouraged individuals to patronize the program. “I encourage the young ones to take advantage of this initiative so they can enhance their education and sports” he said.
The Rite Sports Limited organized event is the first of its kind in Africa as talented individuals in basketball and football, will be handed scholarships to prestigious educational institutions in the West African country.
Prospective student-athletes will be taken through series of drills to select the best talents. Chief Executive Officer of Rite Sports Yaw Sakyi Afari, was adamant the success of the program will attract scholarships from established foreign institutions in the future.
