Braves of Customs extended its winning streak in the Accra Basketball League Women’s Division by beating Fire Service 47-33 before Galaxy piped Reformers of Prisons 32-31 in the latest round of games.
Both games were played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu and it was Braves that benefitted from an early win as they condemned Fire to a seventh loss for the season.
Braves breezed through the first three quarters of the game before taking their foot off the pedal which allowed Fire to prevent the score from being a total beat down. 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards nominee Carlyn Adjei buried consecutive three point shots during the stretch.
Braves Anita Bonney and Gloria Gyampoh scored late on to seal an expected win.
Reformers of Prisons Center Eva Alhassan had the chance to send the game against Galaxy to overtime from the free throw line but missed one to condemn the side to a first loss in three games.
It was a good win for Galaxy who welcomed Guard Karine Quarnum back to the lineup. She sparked Galaxy’s offense on her return alongside 2016 Awards nominee Selina Quaye as both players buried consecutive three point shots.
Galaxy bigs Naa Shika Moffat and Ayishatu Malike came up big for the side with crucial blocks.
